Editorial basis

Our curator Conrado Lusa played the ReBlade: The Death Spiral demo on our Oct 22, 2026 Steam Next Fest stream. Quotes are translated from Portuguese.

What the game is

ReBlade: The Death Spiral is developed by ChillyRoom and published by Spiral Up Games. Per Steam, you are a condemned Synthetic marked for destruction and trapped in endless resets, in a cyberpunk world inspired by Chinese mythology. You combine weapons, chips and augments to cut through mechanical creatures and "rip the truth out of this cyber-mythic city". Steam describes combat as built around timing and control: balance offense and defense, read enemy behavior and strike at the right moment. Each run lets you refine your build. The publisher's X account is @ReBladeG.

What Conrado did

The session opened with the game's intro. Conrado said this was the title he had been waiting for: "Folks, this was the one I was looking forward to trying." The intro began with a quotation about misty seas and three sacred peaks that last forever, and he said there was not enough time to read the rest of it. As the cinematic ran he threw out comparisons (Phantom Blade, Cyberpunk, Final Fantasy VII, Terminator) before the title card appeared.

Once he reached the action, the overhead-view combat sent sparks flying across industrial catwalks. Conrado threw an axe at an enemy and challenged the rest: "Just come mess with me and see." After a fight: "Man, the combo moves are awesome." Later, after a group of ranged enemies: "I handled that group pretty well."

It was not all smooth. He said he got "a bit confused by the buttons" early on.

What we saw on screen

  • A black intro card with a quotation, then a neon cityscape and the ReBlade: The Death Spiral logo.
  • A red-lit catwalk scene with a swirl of orange sparks during a fight.
  • A blue-lit industrial platform in a fight, with an on-screen prompt at the bottom.

Release status

Per Steam, the demo is free and went live Oct 19, 2026; the full game has no release date yet ("To be announced"). The demo window (Oct 19 to Nov 10) comes from the developer's announcement and is not shown on the Steam page we read.

Our take

A strong visual identity and satisfying combos stood out as Conrado worked through an initially confusing set of buttons.
